Hi there!, I am working on putting the blog fully functional and suiting my likings.step by step, because I do not have much time, but I’m doing it whenever I can. A while ago, I was commenting with YeNS the issue of keeping my old template or change it to a new one, then he made a comment that surprised me. He said that the new template (that you see right now) was very common and yet, the old “suits” me, that it “goes” with me, for the colors and my way of drawing …. So he convinced me to maintain it. The truth is that put that old theme to work as I wanted cost me a lot of hard work, because I have no clue about php (or how to program anything) or make templates for wordpress, so, reading a lot and deducting what I could I got a little template that suited my needs and tastes. And I am quite proud of the result, although the code should look like a collection of patches to those with knowledge on the subject.

Unfortunately, with the changeover to the new server and the new version of Wordpress (and 2.4 seems to be just around the corner) that template that cost me so much effort to put “in order” gives increasing problems. The truth is that the template is outdated in terms of code, not visually, and it will not work with most of the plug-ins that had installed in their new versions. One example is the fact that the plugin Compartelo is not working properly, at least without retouching code, as well as the plugin a title=”SRG Clean Archives” href=”http://www.idunzo.com/projects/clean-archives/” target=”_blank”>Clean Archives for handling the files either. In fact almost no plugin that uses moo.fx or similar libraries is functioning properly “out of the box” without the code being extensively retouched. In more new templates (such as the current one) they are working properly without touching a line of code. This will not be a very serious problem if I knew what to touch and where, but it is not always the case and in some cases I can’t find information on how to do so. As you can see I have added a “checkbox” in the comments of the entries for you to subscribe by mail to the comments of this entry in particular and thus keep you informed of the talks …. it is not effective with my beloved old template.

I say all this because it has reached the point where keeping the old template working as I want it to do is quickly becoming impractical for me, with my limited knowledge, I found a new version of the template here (with lots of adds as 404 page, etc.) but it has a CSS style sheet that does not convince me and many changes that I do not like. The fact is that those who know me know that I do not like “follow the masses,” that is, It’s not enough for me to put a theme that is already in use by zillions of blogs. “I need to” make my template “my own”, that’s why I extensively modified the old one, but this “make my own”, with my knowledge is reduced to modify an existing one as much as I can (which is not much).

Finally, after all this brick that probably bored you …. If there is someone in the room with knowledge on how to make wordpress templates willing to gives me a hand with this matter would have my eternal gratitude (could promise eternal fame and glory, but that would be lying and my mom teached me not to do so), and a permanent link (wow!) In this humble blog ….

Thanks for reading this brick ;)

Well, finally the blog is completely migrated and funtional in Dreamhost. I have installed all the plugins I have in Lynksee’s blog and revised all searching errors, so there should be no problem. For a while (when I have free time) I will be reviewing new plugins and features that I couldn’t add in the previous blog because Lynksee did not provide access via ftp and perhaps changing some details in the design. But this will not affect the functionality of the blog, you’ll just see some details present one day and not the other or theme changes … but in any case the blog should work fine. Therefore I would request that, if someone wants to make any comment should do it on the new blog because the one hosted on lynksee will be slowly dying until December 21st, date of Lynksee’s shut down. I do not delete the site because I still have to finish feeds migration and some links on other sites still point the ‘old’ blog in Lynksee, although I have already sent emails to admins for the exchange of links.

So, your welcomed on Dibujoradas in www.ejeda.com , I’ll wait for you there

Well, after much searching and with the help of my friend YeNS and its discount code I’ve hired the hosting with Dreamhost, they were giving also the domain for free. So I am pleased to announce that Dibujoradas continue it’s journey (that is not going to change the world though) in a new place. The blog is now at www.ejeda.com , thanks to the wonderful “Import” feature of Wordpress this blog is migrated with the same posts, categories and pages that has just now, although I am working to put it as functional as it is now. You can take a look if you want , but you’ll see that the function of translation is not yet active and the posts appear in the two languages at once. In fact, the theme on the “new” blog has attracted my attention. So much that I dont know if I want to change the current design for something more … “modern”. ¿ What you think?, Would you like the current design or you want something more like the theme on the new blog, more modern? (Of course, the new theme will need many refinements of code to have the same functionality that it has just now )….Post your comments, you’ll have dibujoradas for a long long time ;-)

Today I received an e-mail from Lynksee in which they informed me that the Lynksee project is going to be canceled. The adsense advertising model with which it was intended to pay the servers had to be withdrawn because of problems with the policy of the service. They claim for the moderation of the pages and the removal of the “illegal” content. Impossible thing to do by lynksee given the incredible number of pages that are indexed. Because of this draft lynksee is unable to continue paying the servers so … Next December 21st Lynksee closes its doors and publish the source code. It is a real pity because I think lynksee was the best free accommodation that could be found out there. The greatness of Lynksee is a service that offered nearly equivalent to a payment hosting but absolutely free, and under a GNU/GPL license.

With regard to this blog, it means that I have to find a place to host it, a place that admits wordpress and is free, and if this is not possible, at least not a very expensive one, because this blog does not give money, it’s just my small window of communication with the world and I do not want to put any advertising or adsense

So I would ask, if you know of somewhere where I can migrate this blog tell me with your comments … (Wordpress.com free service is not an option, because it has many shortcomings and elements that can only be used if you pay)

Farewell Lynksee…and thanks for all.

This month I’ve had a surprise. A month ago, when I finished the “Keychain” with Blender’s Logo I thought I could submit it to the gallery they make every month at Blender Foundation’s home page. Anyone can send their pictures (if they are made with Blender, of course) and they choose that ones they think are the better ones and make a gallery with the best of the month. And the keychain is among the chosen!. The fact is that I submited it more out of curiosity than something else, and I’ve received a welcome surprise. This surprise has also led the visits to my blog during the day increased dramatically. Anyway, I wanted to share this surprise:)

You can see the gallery on this link. The image is down page to the section entitled “External Renderers”:

Edit: I’ve seen just now that the image has been used in Blender Nation’s entry about October’s Gallery HERE
