Buff, long time without updating the blog….but, I’m far from have forgotten it. Today I bring you, as indicated by the title, my first (and to date, only) Matte Painting, even when it already has some time . It is a futurist alley in a nocturnal view. The certain thing is that it was very fun to do, still in spite of being the first time that tried matte painting, is something that I will return to try. I leave the photo final, and a pair of images of the principle of the process. As a curiosity, I leave some of the photos that I used in the composition. As an important note I want to add that the deeper part of the background (the illuminated buildings and that), comes from a magnificent image of Jaime Jusso found in CGSociety. I hope that you like the final result

This is what happens when, after seeing “The Curse of the Golden Flower” and wanting to practice that “comic style” of what I have spoken in other posts, you put yourself to draw in one night of insomnia… with the fresh reference in mind almost could say that it was inevitable. For that reason the title of this post, which is the original one (滿城盡帶黃金甲) in “latinized” Chinese and whose meaning is, literally, as far as I’ve seen “When Golden Armor Covers The Entire City”.

So, for me this is a recommendable film, if only to see the contrast between “dark” X th century in Europe and the “multicolor” Chinese equivalent. All the film is an explosion of colorful in a palace that for me resembles a beehive, each one knows its place and makes its work with apparent diligence to serve the emperor, in addition of which they are thousands of people to serve him in the enclosure of the palace….(the interior of the palace is a must-see, I would never have imagined that it could has been this way and, as it’s becoming normal with this kind of films, the photography is spectacular)….

Dibujor dixit.

A lot of time since I hung anything, but as I come repeating in each of my posts, I have not much time to do anything aside from the work, that´s the truth. Although this - make a blog- is a wonderful incentive to make things. It gives you the desire of draw for being able to put something from time to time, would like that it could be more often, but …..
well, thanks to the work I have returned to use the ink and lastly I am thinking about doing some comic pages with the elf. I hang a test today. I was practicing “to tell something” with ink and grays at the most and I have liked the result, so I leave it here. Just three panels but they tell a small story in themselves . As always, I would like to hear your opinions, those from the few of you that are around here. :-)

Lately I do not have much spare time, and when I have it I don´t have anything better to do that…..to draw. I said that I liked the elf character from a pair of posts ago and certainly I´ve liked him enough to explore the character a little more. Here we have him in a pair of positions. Still I must accustom to this style, and finishing defining the character, but ….. well, perhaps it is time to begin to create a history for him……
