This month I’ve had a surprise. A month ago, when I finished the “Keychain” with Blender’s Logo I thought I could submit it to the gallery they make every month at Blender Foundation’s home page. Anyone can send their pictures (if they are made with Blender, of course) and they choose that ones they think are the better ones and make a gallery with the best of the month. And the keychain is among the chosen!. The fact is that I submited it more out of curiosity than something else, and I’ve received a welcome surprise. This surprise has also led the visits to my blog during the day increased dramatically. Anyway, I wanted to share this surprise:)

You can see the gallery on this link. The image is down page to the section entitled “External Renderers”:

Edit: I’ve seen just now that the image has been used in Blender Nation’s entry about October’s Gallery HERE

Well, at last I can show you some of the work thay we have been working on in recent months. And that is few pictures of Godspeed: One: Secret Legacy, a fully digital spanish production TV Movie in which I was responsible for production design of some of its elements. But I joined the team when production was already well underway.
At last the official trailer has come to light. Yyou can find, along with the teaser in its official website. On the same website and in the Extras section you’ll find some samples of my work in the movie (for the moment everything in this section is made from me) namely, the concepts for whom the superb 3D team has modelled what finally will be displayed. In the rest of the page you can see samples of the wonderful work done by other people who have taken part in the production and details of the story.

Now to wait until the film finally see the light that will be, hopefully, soon. Perhaps the future brings us more Godspeed ……….

And, to show something, here you have a panel of the Godspeed comic … and of course the Link to the official website.

Here I am again, here you have three more images about my flirtations with Blender. This time I was trying glass with liquid stuff inside, even when it doesn´t seem to, it has its difficulty to achieve the liquid to be seen through the crystal. The darker is rendered with the Blender Interal, and the others with Indigo. The Blender internal is a very good engine and you can do wonderful things with it but, remember, I´m a noobie yet. In fact these renders are prior to the key ring ones, but I was undecided about to hang them here because, as you can see, they are very simple renders. But this blog’s theme is to show my progress (even to myself), so, in the future i will look at this renders and compare with what I’ll be doing doing at this time and feel very prud of myself (lol). Well, it is not much but I like to hang something on the blog from time to time…. even if it is for just myself

C ya in the next entry…

I´m going to have to accustomate myself to write posts more often, even if I can´t hang a new work because this cannot be…..just two single posts in September ….. ahem.

I have always wanted to know how to handle some 3D programs, I used to see spectacular things and it envied what they did and thought that it could be a great support for my work at the time of drawing (creating structures in 3D and painting above, mounting some complicated perspective, etc.) Unfortunately the 3D courses were (and they are) sooo expensive and my income never have allowed me to accede to those courses, aside from that if even the most basic courses are expensive, not to talk about the complete ones…

Then, a year or so agoI discovered Blender and the forums of 3DPoder (thanks Mars) and, thanks to the forums (and wonderful people in there), the guide of Morcy. By curiosity more than anything and without many hopes I downloaded the program. I really did not think that a program that weighed 5 Mb could not even come near to the results that are obtained with the “great ones” like Maya, Max or XSI….I was so mistaken… I have to say that when beginning with Blender I had an “advantage” over those who knew how to handle other 3D softs: that for me the interface did not throw me back. It scared me up a little ,certain, but not more than it would have done those of the other programs since I didn’t have absolutely any previous knowledge. I say this because the interface of Blender does not have anything to do with the standards of the industry although those that dare to follow with the program in spite of it,they end up recognizing that although rare at the beginning, it finishes being even more comfortable than those from other programs.

As I said I downloaded Morcy’s Guide and began to make the exercises compulsively, anxious to learn and astonished because the things worked for me. If Blender has something, it is an immense community of people who improve the program day by day and always helps you to solve your doubts, and if you speak the English there are no limits. Unfortunately in just a short time (3 weeks or so) I had to park the learning because I began to have too much work, and thus has been throughout this last year in which I have not been able to touch the program for anything. But recently I returned to visit the forums of 3dPoder and, downloaded the last version of Blender to begin again with my “training” (Blender has so fasts development… 3 new versions at least this last year. There has been so many changes this year, among them the publication of a book of introduction to Blender from Mercé Gallant (an inconditional visitor from 3DPoder forums), in a perfect spanish who will constitute an inestimable aid to begin with 3D for all that that felt “the tickles” and did not dare, published by Inforbooks.

Well, now I have continued my learning where I left it, or rather beginning again because in a year practically everything forgets and I believe that I am affected of which in the forums has occurred to be called “Blenderitis” and every time I have more symptoms ….. there is so much to discover, not only in Blender but in the section of render of the images and is that every time there are more free render engines and of great quality (kerkythea, Yafray, Yaf (a) ray, Indigo, Sunflow….). The amount of information is so great that it scares at the beginning, but with a bit of will the mysteries are unravelled…..

So here I put the last image that I have done, although is not a great thing it gives an idea of the results that can be obtained in just a short time if iyou have the desire to learn (and of the reach of my Blenderitis, because it is for a wallpaper that I have done for myself ). It is done with Blender and rendered with Índigo, a free unbiased render engine and that also is being a surprise by its great features and results.

So you´ll say what you think….

I put here the web adresses of the sites mentioned in the post: (they are in spanish though)

Apart of that links you can find hundreds (if not thousands) of tutorials and videotutorials among the Web about Blender, it´s just a matter of searching……
